what do you want to hear? really, what do you want to hear; what sounds, what melodies, what beats, what DON'T you want do hear... all of these things...
wandering through life with headphones in my ears has put a personal soundtrack to everything. falling in love with that control, shutting out the things i don't want to hear, shutting myself into a world where i can feel the breeze on my face, watch the people walk by, studying all the nuances of their expressions and interactions, feeling a small part of this large world... looking up at the sky, over the horizon, all around and taking it all in, set to the steady stream of the playlist i've picked.
it's been that way for so long.
how do you feel? are there really words that can describe it? does happy describe the way you felt... THAT day... does elated even come close to making someone else understand how you really felt? how about sad, or, worse yet, how about depressed!? does that really accurately reflect what you feel inside sometimes?
in front of a computer i sit... a loop, maybe 12 bars of a song, plays repeatedly. in those 12 bars i am building a new soundtrack, building it myself. i put in whatever i want, and i put it in there because i feel it. some times i try to express how i feel and it doesn't quite get there, so i change it, tweak it, delete it, replace it... but I am in control... and not only is this MY soundtrack, but it's MY feelings that i hear. and i know i've got it when i hear how i feel... then it all makes sense.
thanks to all those who listen.
